House Haaltert

Haaltert · 2024

A classic semi-detached home was thoroughly renovated into a more beautiful, more comfortable and energy-efficient family home.

In Haaltert, we renovated a classic semi-detached home into a contemporary family home. The original house was decades old, with small dark rooms, a dated interior and little natural light. The residents wanted a thorough complete renovation that would make the house more beautiful and more comfortable, while also being functional, energy-efficient and future-proof.

The entire floor plan was analysed and redrawn. By strategically relocating interior and exterior walls and removing the existing partitioning, an open, light-filled living space emerged in which kitchen, dining area and seating area flow into one another. The semi-open kitchen was given white cabinets, wooden accents and integrated appliances.

On the upper floor, the bedrooms were laid out more efficiently and the attic was converted into an insulated bedroom with exposed roof trusses and roof windows. The bathroom was completely rebuilt with a double washbasin, natural stone-look tiles, black fixtures and a built-in bath with ambient lighting.

Technically, the home was thoroughly addressed with new floor and façade insulation, ventilation, high-performance glazing with new joinery and a renewed, better-insulated roof. Outside, enlarged windows, a new terrace with large grey tiles and white façades with black joinery give the home a fresh, contemporary appearance.
