Mijn VerbouwPremie in 2026: what is changing (and what it means for your budget)

From March 2026 Mijn VerbouwPremie changes substantially and the EPC label grant disappears. We line up what that means for your renovation plans.

Mijn VerbouwPremie in 2026: what is changing (and what it means for your budget)

"Do I still qualify for a grant?" It is by far the question we are asked most often at the kitchen table. And understandably so, because in 2026 a lot has changed in the support for those who renovate.

We have lined up the most important changes for you, no small print, so you know where you stand.

What is Mijn VerbouwPremie again?

For a few years now, Mijn VerbouwPremie has bundled the former renovation and energy grants into a single system. Whether you insulate, replace windows or install an efficient heating system: you apply for everything through the same desk.

The size of your grant depends on your income category and the type of work.

The main changes from 1 March 2026

From 1 March 2026, several things change, especially for higher incomes:

  • Higher incomes (categories 1 and 2): they can only receive support for a heat pump or a heat pump water heater. For insulation, windows or roof work the grant disappears.
  • Windows and doors: remain possible, but the conditions become stricter and more income-dependent.
  • Non-residential buildings: offices, shops and business premises no longer qualify.
  • Lower incomes (categories 3 and 4): for them the core of the grant is retained, including insulation, glazing and heat pumps.

The EPC label grant disappears

An important change: since the start of 2026 the EPC label grant no longer exists. Even if you take your home from label F to label A, you no longer receive a separate payment for it.

Note: this makes good planning more important than ever. It pays to submit your work and applications at the right moment.

What does this mean for you in practice?

It all depends on your income category and the work you are planning. If you are in a lower category, a lot remains possible. If you belong to the higher incomes, the support shifts mainly towards the heat pump.

In both cases: the better you calculate in advance, the fewer surprises afterwards.

Grants change, your plan too

Our experience shows that a renovation rarely fails on site, but it does fail on planning. That is why we advise you to:

  • Have a current EPC drawn up early, with recommendations.
  • Combine work logically, so you do nothing twice.
  • Submit applications correctly and on time.
Our tip: always check your situation on the official Mijn VerbouwPremie website or via Premiezoeker.be. The amounts and conditions can change each year.

Frequently asked questions about grants in 2026

With a higher income, do I still qualify for a grant?

From 1 March 2026, in the highest income categories you only receive support for a heat pump or heat pump water heater, no longer for insulation or windows.

Does the EPC label grant still exist in 2026?

No. Since the start of 2026 the EPC label grant has been entirely abolished, regardless of how much you improve your label.

Can I combine a grant with the reduced VAT rate?

Yes. For homes older than ten years a reduced VAT rate of 6 percent often applies, which you can combine with the grants you are entitled to.
